Adult Programs, Ages: 18+

· I & M Canal Kayak Paddle, June 4-5
Begin your summer with a relaxing paddle down the Illinois & Michigan canal. This historic route, completed in 1848, was the last waterway link to connect the Gulf of Mexico to the East Coast. Kayak for two days and spend a night just off the canal in Gebhard Woods State Park. While traveling through history, observe the flora and fauna that includes a variety wildflower species, water foul, songbirds and much more. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and warm weather on this weekend trip.

· Devil's Lake Climbing. July 16-17 or August 27-28
Let your adventurous spirit soar atop the quartzite bluffs of Devil's Lake State Park. Part of the Baraboo Range, these outcroppings were formed approximately 1.5 billion years ago, making them some of the oldest bluffs in North America. Climb a variety of routes with a wide range of difficulty while enjoying the view of the massive 360-acre spring-fed lake. Spend a weekend in Wisconsin's gem learning rock-climbing technique and experiencing the serenity, which is Devil's Lake.

· Whitewater Kayaking: Red & Wolf Rivers, July 9-10 or August 6-7
Imagine being able to have peaceful paddle in pristine water, and battle whitewater rapids all in the same day. This is the reality of the Red and Wolf rivers in northern Wisconsin. Nothing like this exists in the Chicago area; the water is pure and the whitewater is natural. Ranging from flat-water to class 3, these rivers offer all that entry-level and amateur kayakers could ask for. Paddle the easier Red River on Saturday; rest up at…then kick it up a notch making your way down the Wolf on Sunday. Take this weekend trip and safely push your personal limits by paddling down these spectacular rivers.

Enter the kayaking world with this easy day-trip down the DuPage River. Learn the basic skills such as safety and paddle strokes on this introductory level trip. Travel through Warrenville, Naperville, and Plainfield; watch for wildlife while floating downstream through Warrenville and McDowell Groves.

· Iowa Caving Trip, Ages: 9-12, June 11 or August 10
Explore the very same caverns that Native Americans took shelter in thousands of years ago. Formally discovered in 1830, and then developed a century later, the Maquoketa Caves are still an exciting destination for adventure seekers everywhere. Walk, hike and crawl through these magnificent limestone features while enjoying natural air-conditioning on this summer day-trip.

· Buffalo River Kayaking Trip, March 28-April 2
If you're tired of sitting around bored during spring break, take this adventure paddling down the Buffalo River. Spend your days traveling down the river in sea-kayaks and your nights sleeping under the stars. Experience the true freedom of nature on this free-flowing and entirely unpolluted river.

· Smoky Mountains Backpacking, June 18-25
Start summer by spending 5 days in the backcountry of the Great Smoky Mountains. While hiking around Fontana Lake, you'll encounter five different types of forests that include 130 species of trees and over 4,000 different species of plants. The mammal population may be even more amazing; ranging from woodchucks to bats to black bears. Learn about group cooperation, nature, camping and yourself, during your journey through the Smokies.

· White Water Kayaking: Red River, July 13-14 or August 16-17

The first stop is at Boulder Lake to learn the basics of paddling to familiarize everyone with their boats. Then it's off to the Red to learn river basics and play in the rapids. After camping out, spend day two running the river and surfing. Ranging from flat-water to class 3, the Red River offers all that an entry-level or amateur kayaker could ask for. Take this weekend trip and safely push your personal limits by learning white water basics and crashing through the rapids on the mighty Red River.
